Copley Square
Boston Public Library
Boston’s Copley Square is home to the first free-lending library in America, Boston’s tallest building and the historic Trinity Church, said to be one of the 10 most beautiful buildings in America.
Named after renowned Boston portrait painter John Singleton Copley, Copley Square is an expansive public space with wonderful food and shopping, as well as a striking architectural confrontation in the form of Trinity Church, John Hancock Tower, and the Boston Public Library. Three such visually and functionally disparate buildings are rarely located in such close proximity and provide interesting contrasts.
Copley Place Mall
Just up the street is the Copley Place Mall, an indoor marketplace of upscale shops and restaurants which is connected by skywalk to the Shops at Prudential Center.
